40 Leadenhall is a 900,000 sq ft, 34-storey tower and one of the largest developments ever to receive planning permission in the City of London. Located within the City’s insurance district, the building can accommodate up to 10,000 occupants.
The building has a double-height entrance lobby, designed to provide an impressive, arrival experience for visitors and tenants. Grants were responsible for the supply and manufacture of Mouselow sandstone paving from quarried blocks to finished stone. Grants installed the sandstone to the reception and lift lobby areas on the FLOOR & More® screed replacement system, this allowed services to be installed under the floor and ensured the future proofing of any changes to the underfloor requirements. The same paving specification was applied throughout the 100m long, 10,000sqft reception area, ensuring a unified, continuity throughout the space.
The installation required a high level of skill to meet the exacting standards of the contemporary design. One key architectural feature was the shadow gap which runs between the large fluted wall panelling, lifts, and architectural elements. The craftmanship and attention to detail from the whole team, throughout the design and installation is evident in the final completed project.
