Our History

Grants began in 1965 under the name W.E. Grant Marble, operating from railway arches in Shoreditch. Initially a small masonry manufacturer, the company steadily evolved, expanding into the design, manufacture, and installation of prestigious projects across London and the Middle East.

On 3rd December 1992, Grants of Shoreditch was established by five former employees of W.E. Grant Marble—some of whom remain with the company to this day. Continuing operations from the original Geffrye Street arches, the new entity built a reputation for delivering high-quality workmanship and meeting the most demanding project deadlines.

In 2002, the reopening of the railway above the Shoreditch premises prompted the relocation of manufacturing to Shenfield, Essex. By 2012, the office and storage facilities had also moved to Shenfield, consolidating operations.

By 2005, the company had grown from its original five employees to around 100. As its reputation for excellence spread, Grants took on larger and more technically challenging projects.

Today, Grants is the largest company in its sector, consistently delivering some of the UK’s most prominent and complex projects. The group’s head office is located in Chelmsford, with dedicated masonry and architectural precast manufacturing facilities in Cadeby, South Yorkshire.

Over the decades, Grants has built lasting relationships with architects, contractors, and developers, delivering high-profile façades across the UK. With a continued focus on quality, innovation, and sustainability, the company is committed to shaping the built environment for generations to come.
