Rescued Falcon Chicks
Blockstone were recently contacted by the RSPB to ask whether we were able to assist in rehoming two Peregrine Falcon chicks. Sadly their parents had been illegally shot, leaving the chicks orphaned.
The Blockstone quarries provide an ideal habitat, as rock ledges are perfect for breeding Peregrine Falcons to nest and we already had this breed settled at another of our sites. As Peregrine Falcons are well known to readily accept orphaned chicks from another nest, we were able to assist the RSPB by placing the chicks with those already nesting. The chicks can be seen here to have comfortably settled into their new home.
Blockstone are so pleased in being able to help the RSPB achieve a positive outcome to what was a very sad situation.
